The online godparent class
your parish can verify.
You said yes to being a godparent. The parish asked for proof of preparation. This is that — eight Catechism-cited chapters on Baptism and the promises you’ll make, a short examination, and a named certificate issued the moment you pass.
Full refund if your parish declines the certificate.
The role, the rite,
and the promise you make.
What you're agreeing to
The godparent's promise, in the Church's own words: to help this child, by word and example, lead a Christian life — with the concrete habits that keep the promise.
Whether you're eligible
Canon 872–874, plainly explained: at least 16, fully initiated (baptized, confirmed, Eucharist), not the child's parent, living consistently with the role.
What happens at the font
The rite step by step — reception, the word, the water, chrism, the white garment, and the candle you may be asked to carry.
The full curriculum is the same eight chapters as every Parish Ready track — Why Baptism? · Baptism Through History · The Rite, Step by Step · Who Baptizes and What It Effects · Infant Baptism and Common Questions · The Godparent's Role · The Parents' Promises · Living It Out — with three examination questions specific to the godparent’s role.
